The meeting of the Commission on Economic Issues was held in Moscow on May 15. The agenda included various aspects of economic cooperation between the CIS member states.
FGBI "ARRIAH" is the head developer and coordinator of the Sets of joint measures of the CIS member states for the prevention and control of foot–and-mouth disease (FMD) and rabies.
Head of the Reference Laboratory for FMD Diagnosis Viktor Nikiforov made a presentation on the implementation in 2022-2023 of a Set of joint measures of the CIS member states for FMD prevention and control for the period up to 2025. In his report he addressed the main objectives of the Sets of joint measures, highlighted the FMD epidemic situation in the CIS countries and presented the results of cooperation within joint studies of FMD virus isolates.
Head of the Reference Laboratory for Rabies and BSE Elena Chernyshova made a report on the implementation in 2022-2023 of a set of joint measures of the CIS member states on rabies prevention and control for the period up to 2025. She spoke about the rabies epidemic situation in the CIS countries, touched upon the issues of legal regulation and the relevant amendments introduced in 2022-2023 with regard to this disease control in animals and humans, control of the number of stray dogs, as well as laboratory diagnosis of animal rabies in the Russian Federation.
The presentations contained analytic data on the volume of FMD and rabies preventive measures and their effectiveness in the CIS member states based on the reports provided by the CIS member states on the implementation of the major measures within the Set of Joint Measures, as well as recommendations and proposals of the FGBI "ARRIAH".
