FGBI «ARRIAH» WILL APPLY FOR REGISTRATION OF THE FIRST RUSSIAN VACCINE AGAINST CHICKEN INFECTIOUS ANEMIA VIRUS IN 2026

The FGBI “ARRIAH” plans to submit a dossier for state registration of the first Russian vaccine against chicken infectious anemia (CIA) virus in the 1st quarter of 2026. This vaccine is aimed at increasing biosafety of poultry farms and at reducing the industry's dependence on imported immunobiologicals.

The vaccine has been developed using relevant and epizootically significant CIA virus strains, which will induce strong and stable immune response in the vaccinated commercial poultry

The key research and development stages of the project are currently at an advanced stage of readiness. A comprehensive series of laboratory and preclinical studies has been completed, confirming the strong potential of the vaccine candidate.

The launch of the first Russian CIA vaccine marks a significant milestone in the development of a sovereign veterinary biopharmaceuticals.

This will increase the sustainability of poultry industry and strengthen the country's technological independence in the field of veterinary medicine.

For reference, the chicken infectious anemia virus continues to be one of the most significant viral diseases of poultry. The disease is widespread, highly contagious and can occur in both clinical and subclinical forms, which significantly complicates its timely detection.

The virus is highly dangerous for the young, especially within the first weeks of their life, when the chicken immune system of chickens is not yet formed.

The CIA causative agent affects hematopoietic and immune systems. The disease results in anemia, immunodeficiency, growth retardation and increased susceptibility to secondary infections. In some cases, an increased mortality rate is observed in the young flock.

The infection has a negative impact on the poultry general health status and on effectiveness of vaccination against other diseases, even in the absence of pronounced clinical signs.

CIA virus poses a serious economic threat to poultry farms. The disease results in performance decrease, growing costs of veterinary measures, increased mortality in poultry and deteriorates quality of final products.

In addition, the virus circulating in the flock complicates the epizootic situation and requires extra bio-protection measures.
