On March 11, 2026, the first production batch of the vaccine against avian influenza H9N2, developed by the FGBI “ARRIAH” researchers, was placed on the market in a volume of approximately 6 million doses.
The VMP is based on strains from genetic groups Y280 and G1, that are relevant to Russia, and is intended for preventing the disease in poultry kept on farms and in backyards in areas of higher disease risk.
The vaccine induces a robust immune response in chickens 21-28 days after a single administration, providing protection for at least 9 months.
The placement of the vaccine on the market marks a key step in building a comprehensive protection system for Russian poultry industry against the most dangerous viral diseases.
For Reference: Avian influenza is a highly contagious viral disease of domestic poultry and wild birds caused by influenza A viruses. Although the H9N2 virus falls into the category of low-pathogenicity avian influenza, it poses a constant threat to industrial poultry farming due to its widespread circulation.
