The specialists of the FGBI “Federal Centre for Animal Health” took part in the roundtable discussion held on the margins of VIV MEA 2016, specialized poultry, aquaculture and dairy industry exhibition for Middle East, Africa, India and Central Asia on February 16, 2016.

The roundtable discussion was organized with the support of the Rosselkhoznadzor together with its subordinate institutions. The representatives of the African countries, Oman, Jordan, Pakistan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Sri Lanka and Poland also participated in the discussion.

The meeting was devoted to the discussion of the current highly dangerous animal disease situation in the world. The main trends in scientific and practical cooperation with India and countries from the Middle East, Africa and Central Asia were presented and discussed.

Director of the FGBI “ARRIAH” Dmitry Lozovoy detailed on the Institute, activities of the Testing Centre and laboratories. He also described the operation of the FGBI “ARRIAH” animal facilities, which are the biggest animal facilities in Europe.

Leading Scientist of the FGBI “ARRIAH” Alexey Borisov informed the participants about the activities of the Laboratory for FMD Prevention and focused on the Laboratory targets and tasks. Head of the Reference Laboratory for Avian Viral Diseases Ilya Chvala spoke about the diagnosis and disease prevention methods in poultry production used by the FGBI “ARRIAH”.

The FGBI “ARRIAH” specialists shared the information about their achievements and experience, gave consultations concerning FMD diagnosis and prevention methods as well as vaccination techniques.

The meeting was fruitful for all participants. The FGBI “ARRIAH” activities and products were of special interest; in particular “Veterinary Today” scientific journal with its foremost publications and vital issues was highly evaluated.
