On January 22, 2026, the FGBI "ARRIAH" submitted for publication methodological guidelines developed by the Center's scientists for the detection and identification of the pathogenic microorganism - Listeria monocytogenes - in animal feeds, feed additives, and raw materials for compound feed production.
The development is driven by the current lack of a regulatory and methodological document in Russia that allows for the control of this indicator (Listeria monocytogenes) in feed.
The document contains a step-by-step scheme for conducting tests, ensuring a unified approach to laboratory diagnosis and improving the accuracy of results.
In the future, based on this methodology, a draft national GOST (State Standard) will be prepared for approval by the relevant Technical Committee.
Inquiries regarding the purchase of the methodological guidelines can be directed to the Center's official email: arriah@fsvps.gov.ru.
For reference: Listeria monocytogenes is the causative agent of a dangerous disease—listeriosis. Listeria present in feed poses a risk to the health of both animals and their owners. Human infection with this pathogen can occur in several ways: through contact with contaminated feed, animals that consumed contaminated feed, and even with surfaces (such as bowls, utensils, or countertops). Sick animals, even in the absence of symptoms, can be carriers and shed L. monocytogenes into the home environment through feces and saliva.
