Advanced training course on epidemiology, diagnosis, prevention and control of African swine fever and classical swine fever was carried out in the Rosselkhoznadzor-subordinated FGBI “Federal Centre for Animal Health” on November 17-28, 2014.
Eleven experts from the Rosselkhoznadzor Territorial Administration (Belgorod Oblast), Interoblast Veterinary Laboratories (Chelyabinsk, Saratov, Kaliningrad, Bryansk and Belgorod Oblasts) and Russian Veterinary Services (Republic of Buryatia) received the training.
The training programme (72 hours) comprised lectures and seminars including reproduction of the infections in susceptible animals, evaluation of clinical signs and postmortem lesions induced by the infections. In FGBI “ARRIAH” ASF Reference Laboratory the participants were trained in molecular and biological methods for diagnosis of porcine virus diseases. The leading experts of the FGBI “ARRIAH” described strategies used for ASF and CSF control in the world, shared their experience in arranging and implementation of anti-epidemic measures for the infection eradication under current conditions.
According to the participants seminars and advanced training courses carried out in the FGBI “ARRIAH” provide veterinary specialists with an opportunity to improve professional skills and to learn more about currently important and economically significant infectious animal diseases.
