On July 31, 2014, a workshop “Issues of Avian Disease Prevention on Poultry Farms of the Chelyabinsk Oblast” was held. The workshop was organized by the Minister of Agriculture of the Chelyabinsk Oblast for poultry disease specialists from the poultry farms located in the Urals Federal District. The Rosselkhoznadzor subordinate FGBI “ARRIAH” was represented by Sergey Starov, Deputy Director on Quality; Viktor Irza, Head of the Poultry Disease Department; and Mikhail Volkov, Head of the Laboratory for Epizootology and Monitoring.

Yevgeny Vaganov, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Chelyabinsk Oblast, Yury Petukhov, Deputy Head of the Veterinary Administration, and leading experts appeared before the audience. They emphasized that in the Russian Federation the Chelyabinsk Oblast takes one of the leading positions in a number of criteria of agro-industrial complex development. Enhanced growth of poultry production creates def inite challenges for the Veterinary Service, which require timely response in order to maintain industrial poultry disease freedom in the region.

FGBI “ARRIAH” experts delivered the following presentations: “Basic Directions of the Research and Future Development of the FGBI “ARRIAH”, “Poultry Viral Diseases in Modern Poultry Industry” and “Current Approach to Micoplasmosis Control”.

Experts from the poultry farms of the Urals Federal District expressed their interest in cooperation with the FGBI “ARRIAH”, which is one of the RF leading centers for poultry disease diagnosis and prevention.
