During the period from June 30 to July 3, 2014 the 10th European Pesticide Residue Workshop (EPRW 2014) was held in Dublin, Ireland. The Rosselkhoznadzor subordinate “Federal Centre for Animal Health” was represented by Vasily Amelin, Tatyana Nikeshina and Dmitry Lavrukhin, members of the Laboratory for Chemical Analysis.

During the Workshop the participants presented over 30 oral reports and 200 posters. In addition, leading manufacturers of analytical equipment (Waters, Restek Corporation, Bruker Daltonics, Agilent Technologies, LECO, Thermo Fisher Scientific etc) offered the participants some sessions on practical application of equipment for pesticide testing.

Topics examined on the 10th European Pesticide Residue Workshop included achievements in the field of analytical methods, risk assessment and regulatory changes. Emphasis was given to sample preparation for pesticide testing in food products by QuEChERS (Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged and Safe) method followed by high resolution mass-spectrometry.

Members of the FGBI “ARRIAH” presented posters on the following topics: “Micellar Electrokinetic Chromatography and QUECHERS Sample Preparation for Testing Residues of Neonicotinoides in Vegetables and Fruits” and “Combination of QuEChERS with Disperse Liquid-Liquid Microextraction for Determination of Pesticides in Feed, Milk and Dairy Products Using Gas Chromatography”.
