On 13-14 February 2020, the International Research-to-Practice Conference for poultry farm veterinarians of the Russian Federation and CIS countries “Topical Issues of Avian Infectious Disease Diagnosis and Prevention in Poultry Industry” was held under the auspices of the Rosselkhoznadzor subordinate FGBI “Federal Centre for Animal Health”.
Leading veterinary specialists and the representatives of Russian and foreign scientific circles participated in the Conference. In view of the major risk of spread of highly dangerous and economically significant avian diseases, in particular, highly pathogenic avian influenza, within and outside the Russian Federation, the Conference was attended by Eran Raizman, Senior Animal Health and Production Officer, FAO Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia (Budapest, Hungary), Dr. Calogero Terregino, Director of the European Union Reference Laboratory for Avian Influenza and Newcastle Disease, Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie (Italy), Vladimir Fisinin, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Member of the Russian Academy of Science Presidium, President of the Russian Poultry Breeder Union, Marina Eyngor, Head of Laboratory, Kimron Veterinary Institute (Israel), Igor Gromov, Doctor of Science (Veterinary Medicine), Chair of Pathological Anatomy and Histology, EE Vitebsk Order of the Badge of Honor Awarded State Academy of Veterinary Medicine, as well as the representatives of “ECO Animal Health” (United Kingdom) and “SEPPIC” (France).
The specialists of the FGBI “ARRIAH” shared their achievements and experiences, presented the Centre’s activities aimed at protection of poultry industry against highly dangerous diseases, focused on quality control of the biologicals produced and electronic veterinary certification of poultry products. Foreign experts attracted the attention of the audience to the epidemic situation with respect to avian influenza, Newcastle disease and Gumboro disease.
At the end of the Conference, a round table was held to summarize the results of the event; the participants were awarded standard-issue certificates.
The meeting was productive for all the participating parties. The activities of the FGBI “ARRIAH” aroused a particular interest.
