The 6th meeting on the project “Cross Border Trade and TADs Risk Reduction” between China, Mongolia and Russia was held under the FAO umbrella in the Rosselkhoznadzor subordinate FGBI “ARRIAH”.
The meeting was attended by high level members of the veterinary authorities of PR China, Mongolia and Russia, together with strong teams from each country including laboratory experts, epidemiologists, technical experts and provincial/aimag representatives.
This meeting focused on enhancing cooperation and sharing information between the three participating countries, PR China, Mongolia and Russia. The meeting focused on five TADs: African swine fever (ASF), foot and mouth disease (FMD), highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI), and peste des petits ruminants (PPR) and Lumpy Skin disease (LSD).
A session in the meeting was dedicated to each one of these important diseases during which representatives from the three participating countries presented information about each disease in their country, including: presence or absence of the disease in their country, epidemiology, outbreak reports, control programs or preventive measures and surveillance activities.
This meeting allowed funding opportunities for neighboring countries for multilateral cooperation and a safer international trading of animals and products of animal origin. A number of recommendations and specific actions have been designed to be taken by the parties.
