In 2013-2014 the Reference Laboratory for FMD Diagnosis of the FGBI “Federal Centre for Animal Health” under the jurisdiction of the Rosselkhoznadzor arranged the holding of international proficiency testings aimed at identification of antigens and determination of antibodies to FMD virus in animal blood sera by ELISA using kits of the FGBI “ARRIAH” origin for diagnostic centres and laboratories of the Republics of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Armenia and Azerbaijan.

FGBI “ARRIAH” specialists prepared 3 panels of coded samples. The first panel included freeze-dried inactivated antigens of FMD, sheep pox, swine vesicular disease (SVD) viruses. The second panel consisted of blood sera from vaccinated/recovered from FMD or other vesicular diseases animals. The third panel contained porcine blood sera for detection of antibodies against swine vesicular disease virus. Each panel included samples from non-infected animals.

Before dispatch the prepared panels passed tests in FGBI “ARRIAH” laboratories.

All participants of international proficiency testings sent results of coded sample analysis. Subsequent to the analysis results a scientific paper “Results of proficiency testings held by the FGBI “ARRIAH” Reference Laboratory for FMD Diagnosis in 2013-2014” was prepared.
