On October 30, 2026, representatives of the FGBI “ARRIAH”, subordinate to the Rosselkhoznadzor, visited the Russian Federal Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO). The meeting took place within the framework of an agreement on scientific and technical cooperation signed by the heads of the two institutions at an industry forum in St. Petersburg on September 17
The participants discussed prospects for joint research in the field of veterinary medicine and the health of aquatic organisms, as well as improving approaches to controlling infectious fish diseases. Special attention was given to areas of direct practical importance for the fish farming industry.
Among the priority tasks identified were scaling up monitoring studies with mapping of circulating pathogens in regions of Russia, the creation of commercial diagnostic tools that can be used directly at fish farming establishments, and interaction in the vaccine development.
Following the meeting, the parties identified the main vectors for further joint work and agreed to prepare mutual proposals for the development of cooperation. These will subsequently be formalized as roadmaps and submitted for approval to the senior management of both institutes.
Practical collaboration between the FGBI "ARRIAH" and VNIRO will make it possible to combine the scientific expertise of both institutions to address pressing challenges in the fisheries sector and to improve the diagnosis and prevention of infectious diseases in aquatic animals.
