ARRIAH Participates in BioVetSafety 2026 International Conference

News

From October 22 to 23, 2026, the Rosselkhoznadzor-subordinate FGBI "ARRIAH" attended the international scientific and practical conference in Kazan. The event was titled "BioVetSafety 2026: Integrated Veterinary Biosecurity System in Agriculture: From Biotechnology to Food Sovereignty."

The event brought together Russian and international experts, scientists, virologists, microbiologists, and radiologists, alongside postgraduate and undergraduate students from specialized universities.

The conference program featured roundtable discussions focused on modern trends in biosecurity for livestock farming, pressing issues in veterinary pharmacology, toxicology, and biotechnology. It also included dedicated sessions on the veterinary and biological challenges of radiobiology, as well as future outlooks for biotechnological development.

Controlling bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) was one of the key items on the agenda. BSE is a disease whose prevention demands systemic veterinary surveillance and strict adherence to biosecurity protocols.

Elena Chernyshova, Candidate of Science (Veterinary Medicine) and Head of ARRIAH’s Reference Laboratory for Rabies and BSE, delivered a presentation titled "Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy: Surveillance and Monitoring as Part of Maintaining the Russian Federation’s Official Status."

As the expert emphasized, managing the disease requires a comprehensive approach that integrates epidemiological surveillance, laboratory monitoring, feed safety controls, and regulatory policy.

The presentation placed special emphasis on banning the use of ruminant proteins in cattle feed. This measure is crucial to preventing the spread of BSE and serves as a pillar of the overall disease control framework.

It was noted that Russia enforces a comprehensive set of veterinary regulations, guidelines, and state control measures covering various stages of feed production and distribution. This system is further reinforced by laboratory testing of feed products and biological material under the federal monitoring program, alongside continuous professional development for the specialists of the state veterinary services.

The participation of ARRIAH specialists in professional scientific events facilitates knowledge sharing and fosters dialogue on practical solutions for veterinary biosecurity.
