ARRIAH’s Chief Epizootiologist Nikita Lebedev Delivers Lecture on Biological Safety to Students of St. Petersburg State University of Veterinary Medicine

On September 30, 2026, Nikita Lebedev, Adviser to the Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor and Chief Epizootiologist of the FGBI "ARRIAH," visited St. Petersburg State University of Veterinary Medicine on a working visit.

As part of the meeting with fourth-year students, he delivered a lecture titled "The Mechanism for Ensuring Biological Safety in the Russian Federation".

During the lecture, the main components of the biological safety system were covered, including veterinary supervision, epizootiological monitoring, timely detection of infectious diseases, and assessment of biological risks. Special attention was paid to the interaction between government agencies, scientific organizations, and veterinary specialists.

Nikita Lebedev also spoke about modern tools used to improve the effectiveness of control and prevention of biological risks. Among them are the digitalization of veterinary supervision, the use of information systems and analytical technologies, and the development of scientific and diagnostic infrastructure.

An important component of ensuring biological safety is international cooperation. The exchange of scientific knowledge and practical experience, the training of specialists, and interaction between veterinary services contribute to improving approaches to the prevention and control of transboundary infections. The FGBI "ARRIAH" participates in this work as a research and diagnostic center.

As part of the visit, Nikita Lebedev was shown the new facilities of St. Petersburg State University of Veterinary Medicine and innovative developments created in recent years.

The interaction of the FGBI "ARRIAH" with relevant educational institutions is aimed at developing the scientific and human resources potential of the veterinary industry.
