From September 23 to 25, 2026, Moscow hosted the Second International Forum “Veterinary Safety,” bringing together specialists from the veterinary industry, the scientific community, and relevant organizations. Experts of the FGBI “ARRIAH,” which is subordinate to the Rosselkhoznadzor, took part in the forum, presenting scientific developments and practical approaches to the prevention and control of animal diseases.

Ilya Chvala, Deputy Director of the FGBI “ARRIAH” and Candidate of Science (Veterinary Medicine), delivered a presentation titled “One Health: Risks of Introduction of Transboundary Animal Diseases into Northeastern Eurasia.” In his speech, he discussed the animal disease situation, the spread of transboundary animal diseases, and the main factors to be taken into account when organizing preventive measures.

Another item on the business program was the discussion of the prevention and diagnosis of African swine fever (ASF). Alexey Igolkin, Deputy Director of the Vladimir branch of the FGBI “ARRIAH” and Candidate of Science (Veterinary Medicine), presented current approaches to laboratory diagnosis of the disease and explained the main routes of virus spread. Among the key risk factors were the movement of infected animals and products, contaminated vehicles and equipment, insufficient biosecurity, the movement of people, and contacts with wild boars. Special attention was paid to the transboundary nature of ASF spread and the need for prompt information exchange between countries.

Valeria Evgrafova, Head of the Laboratory for Bacterial Disease Prevention and Candidate of Science (Veterinary Medicine), presented ARRIAH’s practical developments in the prevention of bacterial diseases. She spoke about the development of domestic bacterial vaccines as one of the tools for reducing import dependence and curbing the growth of antimicrobial resistance.

It was noted that ARRIAH scientists are developing and introducing vaccines for various species of farm animals and poultry. In particular, ARRIAH specialists showcased the MastitVac-EVA vaccine against bovine mastitis and ARRIAH-AviSalm-3 against avian salmonellosis. According to the specialists, vaccination reduces morbidity and, consequently, the need for systemic use of antibiotics.

Separate attention was paid to new domestic products. On August 25, 2026, a registration certificate was obtained for ARRIAH-AviSalm-3, which will be brought to market in the near future. The development of the product is aimed at meeting the needs of the Russian poultry industry and reducing dependence on imported vaccines.

The participation of the FGBI “ARRIAH” in the forum served as a platform for presenting its scientific developments, exchanging professional experience, and discussing practical solutions in the prevention of infectious diseases, biosecurity, and ensuring freedom from animal diseases.
