On March 20, 2017, the Rosselkhoznadzor subordinate FGBI “Federal Centre for Animal Health” was visited by the delegates of the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery. The visit was organized within the framework of the working visit of the Japanese delegation to the Russian Federation aimed at review and assessment of the Russian system for ensuring safety of poultry food products (raw poultry meat) and assessment of risks at such products’ importation to the Japanese market.

Experts of the FGBI ARRIAH told about research activities carried out in the Centre and referred in detail to some methods used for diagnosis and prevention of economically significant animal and poultry diseases as well as to veterinary preparations and diagnostic kits developed in the FGBI ARRIAH. Experts of the Centre made a detailed report on highly dangerous disease epidemic situation in the Russian Federation and specifically on highly pathogenic avian influenza.

During the meeting the parties discussed opportunities for the bilateral cooperation in the area of agriculture and specifically opportunities for exports of raw poultry meat from the Russian Federation to Japan as well as for granting authorization to the Russian Federation to approve its plants for poultry product exportation to Japan.

In conclusion of the visit it was summed up that the meeting was fruitful for all participants. FGBI ARRIAH activities took interest of the participants of the meeting.
