According to the information of the World Organisation for Animal Health 178 outbreaks of animal highly dangerous diseases were registered in April 2015.
Thus, in earlier free from highly pathogenic avian influenza countries (Russia and Niger) one outbreak of the disease was detected in each country. Veterinary services of Costa-Rica reported on Newcastle disease outbreak (fowl pest). Five outbreaks of equine influenza were diagnosed in Croatia.
African swine fever continues its spread in the European territory. During the last month the disease was registered in the following countries: Lithuania (6), Poland (14), Latvia (17) and Estonia (10). An outbreak of classical swine fever was officially confirmed by veterinary services of Mongolia.
Bluetongue outbreaks were reported from Australia (1) and Croatia (9). An outbreak of rabies was diagnosed in Honduras. Newcastle disease continues to spread in Israel. Veterinary services of the country informed about 7 outbreaks of the disease in March-April 2015.
Outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza were detected in the following countries: Burkina-Faso (11), Bhutan (1), Vietnam (3), Hong Kong (1), Canada (3), China (1), Mexico (2), Palestine (2), USA (51) and Taiwan (10). Outbreaks of sheep and goat pox were registered in Kazakhstan (1) and Mongolia (2). Israel reported on an outbreak of peste des petits ruminants. Five foot and mouth disease outbreaks were officially confirmed in Algeria, an outbreak of the disease was also diagnosed in Botswana.
Outbreaks of low pathogenic avian influenza were detected in the Netherlands (1), Taiwan (7) and RSA (1).
