Alexey Mischenko, Deputy Head on Research and Monitoring of the Rosselkhoznadzor subordinate FGBI “Federal Centre for Animal Health” acted as an FMD expert during the webinar “FMD Vaccine Selection” organized on August 4, 2014 by FAO/EuFMD (The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations/ European Commission for the Control of Foot-and- Mouth Disease) for the participants of Roadmap for FMD Control in Western Eurasia.

Beside the researcher, Tamila Alieva, FAO/EuFMD National Consultant, Director of Azerbaijan State Research and Control Institute of Veterinary Drugs delivered a report during the webinar. Representatives of FFE “Schelkovo Biofactory”, officers of the Veterinary Services of Republics of Kazakhstan and Armenia and EuFMD officials participated in the event.

During the webinar FMD epidemic situation in West Asian countries was reviewed, issues of identification of antigenic matching of field and vaccine isolates were discussed as well as selection of isolates for vaccine production was considered.
