In the period of August 11-18 pathological samples from domestic pigs collected in the Krasnodar Krai, Vladimir and Omsk Oblasts were submitted to the ASF Reference Laboratory of the FGBI “Federal Centre for Animal Health” (Vladimir) subordinated to the Rosselkhoznadzor.

Laboratory tests performed by the Laboratory specialists showed primary ASF positive results and also confirmed the results of the ASF tests conducted by regional veterinary laboratories, namely:

- on August 11, 2017 a primary positive result was obtained when the pathological sample collected from a domestic pig in the closed administrative unit of Raduzhny in the Vladimir Oblast (OOO “BioKhimFarm”) was tested for ASF;

- on August 11, 2017 the pathological sample collected from a domestic pig on a backyard farm in s. Borki, Kormilovsky Raion, Omsk Oblast was confirmed ASF positive;

- on August 13, 2017 primary ASF positive results were obtained for 7 out of the 15 tested blood samples collected from domestic pigs in the closed administrative unit of Raduzny in the Vladimir Oblast (OOO “BioChimFarm”);

- on August 17, 2017 3 pathological samples collected from domestic pigs in the SPK SK “Rodina” STF, st. Ladozhskaya, Ust-Labinsky Raion, Krasnodar Krai were confirmed to be ASF positive;

- on August 18, 2017 the pathological sample collected from a domestic pig on a backyard farm in st. Valerino, Kalachinsky Raion, Omsk Oblast was confirmed ASF positive;

- on August 18, 2017 the pathological sample collected from a domestic pig on a backyard farm in s. Tavrichanka, Lyubinsky Raion, Omsk Oblast was confirmed to be ASF positive;

- on August 18, 2017 6 pathological samples collected from domestic pigs on a backyard farm in s. Novaya Stanitsa, Omsk were confirmed to be ASF positive;

ISO/GOST 17025 accredited laboratory ASF diagnostic methods (real time PCR and DIFA) were used for all the tests for detection of ASF virus DNA and antigen.

The ASF diagnoses made by regional laboratories were confirmed within the framework of Item 10 of the Action Plan for Prevention of African Swine Fever Introduction and Spread within the Russian Federation (approved by the RF Government Resolution No. 2048-r of September 30, 2016).
