On 11 November 2020, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) decided to grant the international status of the FAO Reference Centre for Foot-and-Mouth Disease to the Rosselkhoznadzor subordinate FGBI “Federal Centre for Animal Health” for the next four years.
The decision was based on a thorough assessment of the works carried out during the previous mandate period, major activities and competencies of the FGBI “ARRIAH”, achievements in the field of scientific and technical development and international cooperation, commitment to capacity building in the areas related to the FAO mandate, as well as of the scope and past record of cooperation with the organization.
FAO Deputy Director-General Maria Helena Semedo expressed gratitude to the FGBI “ARRIAH” for its interest and readiness to support the FAO efforts in assisting the member-countries and, in particular, developing countries.
