On 28 September 2020, with the support of the OIE-WHO-FAO Tripartite Coordination Mechanism and the relevant authorities of the Russian Federation, an online conference was held on occasion of World Rabies Day.

The event was attended by the representatives of the national ministries of health and agriculture, the Rosselkhoznadzor and veterinary services, key animal and human health specialists, international organizations, in particular, the WHO and the OIE, the experts of the FAO Reference Centres, people involved in global, regional and national health-related politics, non-governmental organizations.

In the course of the conference, the issues of human rabies prevention based on risk-assessment, measures for the disease control in the Russian Federation and Europe, as well as the environmental aspects of rabies prevention were considered. Deputy Director for Research and Quality of the Rosselkhoznadzor subordinate FGBI “Federal Centre for Animal Health” Artem Metlin reported on the RF and global rabies epidemic situation and also provided information on the activities carried out by the FGBI “ARRIAH” towards animal rabies control.
