Interdepartmental meeting was held at the Ministry of Economic Development on November 16, 2020 for preparation of the CIS Economic Council Meeting. The meeting was devoted to discussing and agreeing of the forthcoming Meeting agenda.
Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Federal Agency on Technical Regulation and Metrology, Ministry of Defense, Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation, Russian Federal Agency for Intellectual Property, Patents and Trademarks and Ministry of Economic Development took part in the meeting. The Rosselkhoznadzor was represented at the meeting by Artem Metlin, Deputy Director for Research and Quality of the FGBI “Federal Centre for Animal Health”.
Draft Complex of joint CIS measures for FMD prevention and control for the period till 2025 was included by the Intergovernmental Council on cooperation in the veterinary field in the agenda of the forthcoming Meeting. The said Draft Complex of joint CIS measures is a programme on coordinated actions of the CIS Member countries in the view of constant threat of FMD introduction and widespread in animals that contains complex of measures for FMD prevention, main ways to the programme implementation and resources to be provided. The participants discussed the above-said Draft and agreed to include the said item in the agenda. Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) was noted to be a transboundary disease causing huge economic losses. Russia and Kazakhstan were officially recognized by the OIE as “FMD free zone with vaccination” and “FMD free zone without vaccination” owing to implementation of the complex of joint measures initiated by the Rosselkhoznadzor in the previous years. Such statuses are required for lifting barriers to the international trade that is one of the goals of the programme on agricultural product export development. Therefore, it was proposed to continue the works based on the CIS platform with the FGBI “ARRIAH” as a coordinator of the future activities.
