The 22nd Meeting of the National Reference Laboratories for AI and ND of EU Member States was held in Copenhagen, Denmark on April 19-21. Leading world and European scientists and AI and ND specialists took part in it. Rosselkhoznadzor subordinate FGBI “ARRIA” was presented by V. Irza (Chief Expert, Information Analysis Centre, Doctor of Science (Veterinary Medicine) and A. Andriyasov (Leading Researcher, Reference Laboratory for Viral Avian Diseases, Candidate of Science (Biology).

The meeting was organized by the EU Central reference laboratory for these diseases (APHA, Weybridge, UK), General Directorate for Health and Food safety of the European Commission – SANTE-DG-Unit G2-Animal Health (Brussels, Belgium), National veterinary institute (Copenhagen, Denmark), as well as NRL for avian influenza and Newcastle disease (Copenhagen, Denmark).

Reports on avian influenza situation in Russia, European and American countries were made at the meeting. Particular attention was given to HPAI outbreaks and measures of their control in France, England and USA. It was highlighted that cooperation and coordination between the European NRLs through computer networks in order to take timely actions aimed at disease control are very important.

FGBI “ARRIAH” specialists presented a report on topic: Epidemiological monitoring of avian influenza in the Russian Federation.

Leading scientists, NRL specialists of the European countries, as well as Belarus, Turkey, USA representatives (over 80 people in total) took part in the meeting.

All the reports are relevant and have informational value.

All obtained data and information will be used in research work and in the course of comprehensive AI and ND laboratory diagnosis.
