In June 2019, the employees of the Reference laboratory for bovine diseases of the Rosselkhoznadzor subordinate FGBI “Federal Center for Animal Health” took part in a round of interlaboratory comparison tests, organized by the international provider “GD Animal Health” (Netherlands), aimed at identification of the genome of bovine viral diarrhea virus.
53 diagnostic laboratories from Australia, Canada and Europe participated in this proficiency test. The test panel comprised samples of ear notch, spleen, blood and serum suspensions containing genetic material of agent types 1 and 2. At the end of July 2019, the Laboratory received official confirmation that it has successfully passed a round of interlaboratory comparison tests aimed at identification of the genome of bovine viral diarrhea virus.
The results of interlaboratory comparison tests once again confirmed the competence of the laboratory staff, as well as the sensitivity and specificity of real-time PCR tests developed and used by the FGBI “ARRIAH” for the diagnosis of this disease.
