On November 5 – 6, 2018 Pirbright Institute, United Kingdom, held the Symposium devoted to the 60th Anniversary of the World Reference Laboratory for FMD (WRLFMD), the global centre of expertise in the diagnostics and surveillance of foot-and-mouth disease.
Representatives of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), UN Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO), Australian Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization, Oxford University and other scientific centres from different countries took part in the event. The Russian delegation was represented by Directors of the scientific centres, subordinate to the Rosselkhoznadzor, Dmitry Lozovoy (FGBI “Federal Centre for Animal Health”) and Leonid Kish (FGBU “Russian State Center for Quality and Standardization of Veterinary Drugs and Feed”).
The experts from organizations and leading institutes of the world, dealing with FMD issues, delivered their reports at the event.
Besides, Director of the FGBI “ARRIAH” Dmitry Lozovoy took part at the closed session of the OIE/FAO Reference Laboratory Network Meeting to discuss programs, regulating FMD control strategy and communication.
