From 1 to 28 February 2017 the World Organization for Animal Health was notified about 865 outbreaks of highly dangerous animal diseases.
During the reporting period the following outbreaks were reported in Russia: African swine fever in agricultural animals - 4 in the Saratov Oblast, and in wild boars – 1 in the Orel Oblast and 1 in the Ivanovo Oblast. Highly pathogenic avian influenza was reported in the Kaliningrad Oblast (1).
The following diseases were reported in previously disease-free countries:
Highly pathogenic avian influenza – Belgium (2), Bosnia and Herzegovina (1), Lithuania (1), Nepal (1), Portugal (1); Contagious bovine pleuropneumonia – Gambia (1); FMD- Israel (1).FMD outbreaks were reported in China (2), Mongolia (3), the Palestinian Authority (2) and in South Korea (8), African swine fever was reported in Latvia (44), Poland (27) and Ukraine (29).
Veterinary services from 34 countries reported on 34 outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza: Bulgaria (58), Great Britain (8), Hungary (19), Vietnam (6), Germany (78), Greece (9), Denmark (6), Egypt (4), Israel (6), India (1), Iran (16), Ireland (5), Spain (2), Italy (5), Cambodia (1), Cameroon (1), China (2), Macedonia (1), Myanmar (1), Niger (1), Nigeria (21), the Netherlands (21), Poland (70), Romania (45), Serbia (7), Slovakia (42), Taiwan (9), Ukraine (1), Finland (3), France (198), Croatia (8), Czech Republic (37), Sweden (14), Japan (1).
Lumpy skin disease was reported in Namibia (1). Bluetongue outbreaks are still reported in Italy (10). Outbreaks of PPR (1) and sheep and goat pox (24) were reported in Mongolia. Newcastle disease outbreaks (3) were detected in Romania.
In addition to the above listed diseases the following diseases were reported in the world within the reported period:
Rabies – Kazakhstan (3); Brucellosis (Br. Melitensis) – Croatia (1); Contagious equine metritis - Republic of South Africa (1); Low pathogenic avian influenza – France (9), Chile (1)Experts of the Information and Analysis Centre in the FGBI ARRIAH continue to monitor the global epizootic situation.
