On August 26, 2020 Governor of the Vladimir Oblast Vladimir Sipyagin visited the FGBI “Federal Centre for Animal Health”, subordinate to the Rosselkhoznadzor. During his visit, he took part in the official opening ceremony of a new laboratory and animal facility.

Vladimir Sipyagin familiarized himself with the activities of the institution. The delegation, headed by the Governor, visited several facilities on the premises of the FGBI “ARRIAH”, including a new logistics centre. Special attention was given to the results of a wide-scale reconstruction of African swine fever (ASF) laboratory. Thanks to the reconstruction of Laboratory and Animal Facility No.3, the FGBI “ARRIAH” now has one of the biggest and well-equipped reference laboratories for ASFV and CSF diagnostics and research in the CIS territory. One of the most important relevant factors is the possibility to make a rapid final diagnosis of these diseases and conduct research, aimed at development of highly effective specific prophylaxis (vaccines) and diagnostic tools.

First Deputy Governor Alexander Remiga, Heads of Regional Executive Authorities, State Duma Deputy Vasily Vlasov, Assistant to the Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor Artem Daushev and Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor Administration for the Vladimir Oblast Svetlana Pantyukhina also took part in the event.

Vladimir Sipyagin made a brief speech and congratulated the participants on the opening of a new facility, acknowledging the results of wide-scale reconstructions of logistical and laboratory facilities.

Interim Director Artem Metlin noted the importance of the moment and prospects, associated with the commissioning of a new laboratory and animal facility, which will be a significant milestone of the road of the institution’s scientific development and for all committed people.

The visit to the FGBI “ARRIAH” and veterinary service history museum aroused vivid interest among the guests of the Centre. Vladimir Sipyagin carefully examined the museum exhibits, represented by orders and regulations on the Institution and its branches establishment and demonstrating the stages of the Institution development and Rosselkhoznadzor service creation.
