Head of the Regional Representation of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) in Moscow Budimir Plavsic paid an official visit to the Rosselkhoznadzor-subordinate Federal Center for Animal Health on July 29, 2020.
During the meeting the parties discussed issues of expanding competencies of the FGBI “ARRIAH” as a Collaboration Centre, and its further activities as OIE Reference Laboratories for foot and mouth disease, avian influenza and Newcastle disease. Taking into account the spread of African swine fever, rabies, lumpy skin disease and other transboundary animal infections in Eurasia, an agreement was reached on facilitation of international cooperation under the auspices of the OIE.
Budimir Plavsic learned about the institution's activities and history, the extensive experience of its specialists and their contribution to veterinary science, as well as highly assessed the FGBI “ARRIAH” laboratory and production facilities that comply with international quality and safety standards.
The guests also had a tour in the history museum of the FGBI "ARRIAH" and the Veterinary Service. The Head of the OIE Regional Representation in Moscow paid close attention to the museum's exhibits including orders and decrees on the establishment of the institution and its branches, as well as documents representing stages of the Rosselkhoznadzor and FGBI “ARRIAH” establishment and development. Budimir Plavsic made an entry into the museum guestbook, noting the enormous activity of the institution, which made it possible to bring diagnostic and research work to the level of the leading OIE centers and receive international acknowledgement.
In conclusion the parties summarized the results of the meeting and agreed to further develop productive interaction, as well as expressed interest in further joint activities on epidemic situation control.
