On July 31, 2019 within the framework of his visit to the FGBI “Federal Centre for Animal Health” subordinate to the Rosselkhoznadzor Sergey Dankvert, Head of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, participated in the official opening ceremony of the Veterinary Service and FGBI “ARRIAH” History Museum.

The initiative for creating a museum was launched in 2018 when FGBI «ARRIAH» commemorated the 60th anniversary of the All-Union Foot-and-Mouth Disease Research Institute which with time became the main scientific centre within the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance and consistently ensured epidemiological welfare of the country.

The FGBI «ARRIAH» museum exposition displays orders and regulations establishing the institution and its branches and highlights modern milestones of the institution’s development. A tribute was paid to the Great Patriotic War veterans and home front workers – the employees of the Institute who for many years worked at the Institute as well as to the leading staff members of the Institute who were decorated with national awards and prizes.

Detailed information is given on the history of the veterinary service starting from the epoch of Peter the Great and the history of the veterinary virology which enriched science and veterinary practice. Expositions show photographs and exhibits from the past.

The creation of the Rosselkhoznadzor is also featured, notably, its principal tasks and organizational structure.

Sergey Dankvert congratulated the FGBI «ARRIAH» on the museum opening and underscored the importance of the continuity between generations and passing the accumulated experience.
