Workshop on oral vaccination of wild animals against rabies was held on May17-18, 2016 in Riga (Latvia). It was organized by the Latvian Food and Veterinary Service with the EC organizational and financial support.

Chief Technologist A. Metlin took part in the workshop on behalf of the Rosselkhoznadzor subordinate FGBI “ARRIAH”.

The program of the workshop included theoretical and practical sessions on planning, organization and performing oral vaccination of wild animals against rabies using oral rabies vaccines distributed by aircrafts.

As a result of the workshop the attendees agreed to continue cooperation in the field of joint research. Besides, the European representatives made a proposal on establishing and funding a buffer zone on the border between the Pskov Oblast and the EU countries (Estonia and Latvia).
