Rabies Case Detection in Vladimir Oblast

In April 2016 a carcass stray dog shot in the microraion Ur’yevets (Vladimir city) was submitted to the FGBI “Federal Centre for Animal Health”. The dog’s behavior was aggressive and it attacked a man. Consequently it was caught and euthanized. Rabies virus antigen was detected as a result of laboratory tests and the diagnosis was confirmed.

All in all 32 rabies cases were reported in the Vladimir Oblast in 2016, 2 of them – in Vladimir. Most cases in the Vladimir Oblast were registered in the Sobinsky raion – 8 cases.
