In March 2016, 74 animal brain samples coming from the Vladimir, Voronezh and Tver Oblasts were tested for rabies by the FGBI “ARRIAH” subordinated to the Rosselkhoznadzor in the framework of the National Task.
The material was tested using fluorescent antibody technique. Tests results demonstrated 2 new cases of rabies in animals: in lynx from the Sobinka Raion, the Vladimir Oblast, and in fox from the Novokhopersky Raion, the Voronezh Oblast. Rabies was not detected in samples from the Tver Oblast.
Seventeen cases of animal rabies have been registered in the Vladimir Oblast and 12 cases in the Voronezh Oblast in 2016.
