A regular meeting of the CIS Intergovernmental Council for cooperation in the field of veterinary medicine chaired by I.I. Smilgin, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus, was held on October 10-12, 2019 in Minsk. The meeting was attended by representatives of the R. of Belarus, the Republic of Azerbaijan, R. Armenia, R. Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Moldova, Russian Federation, R. Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, the Eurasian economic Commission and the CIS Executive Committee.
In accordance with the agenda, during the meeting D.A. Lozovoy, the Director of the Federal center for animal health subordinated to the Rosselkhoznadzor, made a report on several issues. It was decided to take into account the information provided by Lozovoy regarding the implementation of joint CIS measures for FMD prevention and control for the period up to 2020. Also the proposal of the FGBI "ARRIAH" to extend the validity of measures for the period up to 2025 was supported. In this connection, the FGBI "ARRIAH" was asked to prepare and submit to the CIS Executive Committee a draft list of measures for this project for the period up to 2025. D. A. Lozovoy's information on the implementation of joint CIS measures on rabies prevention and control for the period up to 2025 was also taken into account. In this regard, Council members, heads of veterinary services of the CIS member States were instructed to intensify participation in international events on rabies eradication.
The proposal of the FGBI “ARRIAH” on the draft Agreement on biological material exchange between the CIS countries was supported. The FGBI “ARRIAH” was instructed to finalize the draft Agreement taking into account the discussion and to forward it to the CIS Executive Committee.
Lozovoy's information regarding the programs on additional professional education recommended for specialists from the CIS Members was taken into consideration. Council Members, heads of veterinary services of the CIS member States were asked to send proposals on the training plan to the CIS Executive Committee. The FGBI “ARRIAH” was instructed to prepare a draft plan on the implementation of its functions as the basic organization for the CIS member States in advanced training and retraining in the field of animal disease diagnosis and control in 2020, as well as an education plan for 2021. When discussing the subject under consideration D. A. Lozovoy gave explanations on the issues raised by the participants of the meeting.
