The FGBI “ARRIAH” was granted the RF Patent No 2603255 on “FMDV Aphtae epizooticae Strain A N2155/Zabaikalsky/2-13 for control of antigenicity and immunogenicity and for production of biologicals to perform FMD type A diagnostics and specific prophylaxis”.

The invention belongs to the field of veterinary virology and biotechnology and refers to the new FMDV strain.

FMD is characterized by wide spread and epidemic course. The disease impedes commercial operations and business activities, and causes economic losses in livestock production.

FMD agent is characterized by antigenic variability within one serotype manifested within different time periods, in different areas, and depends on many factors. Considerable changes and antigenic characteristics of the natural strain are likely to cause difficulties to strain specific diagnosis and dicrease effectiveness when conventional vaccines are applied.

This strain can be used to control FMD vaccine antigenicity and immunogenicity as well as during development and production of FMDV type A diagnostic agents and means of specific prophylaxis.
