Laboratory for Epidemiology and Monitoring of the Rosselkhoznadzor subordinate FGBI “Federal Centre for Animal Health” completed serological studies performed under the Rosselkhoznadzor Order No. 832 of December 31, 2014 “On Laboratory Tests within the Rosselkhoznadzor Measures Taken in 2015 to Comply with WTO SPS Agreement at the RF Accession to the WTO”. According to the Order antibodies against the agents of highly dangerous animal diseases, i.e. avian influenza and Newcastle disease were tested in poultry sera.

Following the monitoring results letters with the serological test result analysis and recommendations were addressed to the Rosselkhoznadzor Territorial Administrations. The laboratory highly appreciates close cooperation with the Rosselkhoznadzor Territorial Administrations and Veterinary Departments in the RF Subjects during the national laboratory monitoring and hopes for further cooperation during the monitoring in 2016.

Over the past month 6609 tests for topical economically relevant avian diseases (avian influenza, Newcastle disease, infectious bursal disease, infectious bronchitis, laryngotrachitis, encephalomyelitis, reoviral tenosynovitis, metapneumovirus infection, etc) were performed. 3388 positive results were obtained. The test results were addressed to the veterinarians, the data were interpreted and scientific advice was provided, if appropriate.
