The Rosselkhoznadzor subordinate FGBI “Federal Centre for Animal Health” carries out epidemic monitoring in the Crimea. During the period from June 20 to July 4, 2014, a number of serological and bacteriological tests were performed in the FGBI “ARRIAH” Affiliate in the Republic of Crimea.
Sera collected from 204-day-old chickens in the SP “Oktyabrsky” were tested. The sera were tested for Mycoplasma gallisepticum and Mycoplasma synoviae by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). No antibodies to Mycoplasma gallisepticum were detected. But 66.6% of the sera were seropositive to Mycoplasma synoviae. Hemagglutination inhibition (HI) test was performed in order to test the Newcastle disease immunity stress. The results demonstrated 85% immunity stress at mean antibody titer 7.8 log. In order to determine antibodies to H5N1 avian influenza virus chicken sera from the same farm were HI tested. All sera tested negative. Tests for infectious laryngotracheitis using indirect hemagglutination test (IHA) demonstrated 100% immunity stress with mean antibody titer 4.85 log in a group.
Blood sera and pathological materials collected from chickens were submitted from PAO “Partizan” during the reported period. Serological tests of sera from 90-100-day-old chickens were tested for infectious laryngotracheitis. The results demonstrated 100% immunity stress with low antibody titers. Bacteriological tests of pathological materials collected from dead 235-day-old layers on the same farm were performed. Microorganisms of Citrobacter genus were detected. Thus group immunity stress against Newcastle disease and infectious laryngotracheitis is within normal range in these birds; no diagnostic titers of antibodies against H5N1 avian influenza virus were detected.
Three sunflower cake samples, one meat-and-bone meal sample and one compound feed sample from PAO “Partizan” were tested. The performed test results allowed making a conclusion that the feeds comply with the standards and can be used for animal feeding without any restrictions.
Testing of pathological material from 4-month-old rabbits (3 animals) in IAO “Yuzhnaya” demonstrated circulation of Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus spp. and Escherichia coli. Sensitivity of the above mentioned organisms to Ceftriaxonum, Ampicillin, Doxycycline and Florone (microorganism growth inhibition area is over 25 mm) was determined.
A fish sample (2 carps) was submitted from backyard of Dorosh S.S. for testing for infectious ascites of carps. Infectious ascites agent was not detected by postmortem, bacteriological and microscopic methods (opportunistic E.coli culture was detected).
