In the last quarter this year the FGBI “Federal Centre for Animal Health” Laboratory for Epidemiology and Monitoring performed 18,174 serological tests for specific antibodies to agents of circulating infectious avian diseases.
In the framework of national laboratory monitoring 1,393 serum samples were tested by ELISA for Avian Influenza A and 1,965 serum samples by hemagglutination-inhibition test for Newcastle disease. 1, 468 samples were Newcastle disease positive which is indicative of strong post-vaccinal immunity and efficacy of specific disease prevention measures. More than 13,000 tests of serum collected from commercial poultry from different Russian poultry meat and egg producing farms were performed for detection of antibodies to agents of circulating infectious diseases (infectious bronchitis, Gamboro disease, reovirus tenosynovitis, infectious laryngotracheitis, pasteurellosis, infectious encephalomyelitis, leucosis, viral anemia, adenovirus infection, etc).
9,063 positives were obtained. The results were interpreted considering specific immunoprophylaxis on farms, and relevant recommendations were given.
