Director of the All-Russian State Center for Quality and Standardization of Veterinary Drugs and Feeds (FGBI “VGNKI”) Vyacheslav Nikulin and Director of the Federal Centre for Animal Health (FGBI “ARRIAH”) Dmitry Lozovoy participated in several meetings with the management and leading specialists of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) on the sidelines of the International Agricultural Salon - SIA 2018 on February 25 – 27, 2018 in Paris, France.
Within the meeting with Monique Eloit, OIE Director General, cooperation between the OIE and Rosselkhoznadzor including FGBI “VGNKI” and FGBI “ARRIAH”, subordinate to the Rosselkhoznadzor, were discussed. The parties expressed mutual interest in strengthening of current cooperation and proposed the future trends of cooperation development with the OIE in the veterinary area.
Talks with OIE Deputy Director General Jean-Philippe Dop and Adviser to Director General Romano Marabelli were focused on technical cooperation aspects between the OIE and institutions subordinate to the Rosselkhoznadzor. In near future in order to update the current cooperation, a tripartite draft agreement on cooperation between the FGBI “ARRIAH”, FGBI “VGNKI” and the OIE will be prepared. It was also agreed to sign the abovementioned document within the activities of the OIE General Session.
Vyacheslav Nikulin reported on preparation to the OIE Working Group Meeting to be held in Moscow hosted by the FGBI “VGNKI”.
Dmitry Lozovoy touched upon the participation of Russian specialists in the OIE Expert group meetings as legitimate experts on several highly dangerous animal diseases causing severe epidemic situation both in European countries and in the RF needing consolidated decisions.
The OIE Heads noted the importance of Russia’s participation in improvement of the OIE information environment with the most important aspect animal disease notification in other countries which enable to respond timely to outbreaks, predict their occurrence and take preventive and effective measures.
Another meeting was held with Natalia Lambergeon, Project Manager for Animal Health Information Systems. The parties discussed cooperation in integration of Rosselkhoznadzor and the OIE information systems. The importance of such integration was stressed due to the transfer to animal product electronic certification in Russia and the necessity to harmonize it with international requirements to facilitate and develop trade relations between Russia and the OIE member-countries.
The OIE Management expressed comprehensive interest in the development of current cooperation and readiness to support the projects of the institutions subordinate to the Rosselkhoznadzor, as well as approval of the OIE Working Group meeting in April.
