Training workshop “Veterinary problems in pig farming in the modern period” took place at the premises of the Academy of Bioresources and Environmental Management of V.I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University on October 4-5, 2016. The workshop was organized by the Rosselkhoznadzor subordinate FGBI “ARRIAH” branch in the Republic of Crimea and the Rosselkhoznadzor Territorial Administration for the Republic of Crimea and city of Sevastopol.
The workshop was opened by Yury Gerber, the Director for academic affairs of the Academy of Bioresources and Environmental Management, Doctor of Science (Engineering), Professor. The workshop was conducted by Konstantin Gruzdev, Chief Expert on Porcine Diseases of the Information Analysis Centre of the FGBI “ARRIAH”, Doctor of Science (Biology), Professor, Honored Veterinarian of the Russian Federation, and by Sergey Yerofeyev, Associate director for cooperation with the branch in the Republic of Crimea, Candidate of Science (Veterinary Medicine).
More than 150 veterinary specialists from pig farms, Rosselkhoznadzor Territorial Administration, State Veterinary Committee of the Republic of Crimea, Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Crimea, Veterinary Department of the city of Sevastopol, as well as students, PhD students and lecturers of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Academy of Bioresources and Environmental Management took part in the workshop.
Economically significant and actual porcine diseases in contemporary domestic pig farming and measures for their prevention and control were addressed during the workshop. Special attention was given to African swine fever which is of great concern for all specialists involved in pig farming. At the end of the workshop the participants asked the questions and got comprehensive answers.
Upon completion of training all the participants received standard certificates.
