On October 17, 2016 D. Lozovoy, Director of the FGBI “Federal Centre for Animal Health”, subordinate to the Rosselkhoznadzor, and A. Metlin, Deputy Director for Research and Development as a part of the Russian delegation headed by Deputy Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor Ye. Nepoklonov visited Finland Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and Finnish Food Safety Authority (EVIRA).

In the course of the meeting with the representatives of the Finnish MoAF chaired by Jaana Husu-Kallio, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, the parties presented information about the epidemic situation in both countries, exchanged their views on possible solution of vital issues related to zoonozes and antibiotic resistance.

During the meeting held in EVIRA Matti Aho, Director General of the Agency and his specialists made presentations about the Agency structure, surveillance and control system used by the Agency in relation to imported and exported animal and plant products, as well as about the risk assessment, GMO control in Finland and national residue monitoring program.

On October 18, 2016 the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry organized the seminar devoted to African swine fever issue, in which representatives of competent authorities, meat industry, veterinarians and hunters took part. The basic presentations from the Russian side were made by Ye. Nepoklonov, A. Metlin and I. Idiatulin (CVO of the Leningrad Oblast).

After the seminar the meeting between EVIRA and ARRIAH specialists was held. The parties discussed basic activities of both institutions and possible cooperation areas, including research and exchange of data, materials and specialists. Based on the results of the meeting it was agreed to sign the Memorandum of Understanding between EVIRA and Rosselkhoznadzor.
