Countries notified the OIE about 727 outbreaks of highly dangerous animal diseases in September 1-30, 2016.
I. Outbreaks of the following highly dangerous animal diseases were reported in the Russian Federation:
64 outbreaks of African swine fever were recorded in 12 Subjects of the Russian Federation: in the Arkhangelsk Oblast (31), Vladimir Oblast (2), Volgograd Oblast (2), Vologda Oblast (7), Voronezh Oblast (3), Lipetsk Oblast (1), Pskov Oblast (1), Ryazan Oblast (2), Saratov Oblast (11), Smolensk Oblast (1), Republic of Chuvashia (1) and Krasnodar Krai (2); sheep and goat pox outbreaks – in the Yaroslavl Oblast (9); 16 lumpy skin disease outbreaks were reported in 4 RF Subjects: in the Krasnodar Krai (2), Tambov Oblast (6), Ryazan Oblast (2), Karachay-Cherkess Republic (6).
II. African swine fever was recorded in Lithuania (21 outbreaks), Poland (6 outbreaks), Ukraine (7 outbreaks). Classical swine fever was detected in South Korea (1 outbreak). The Veterinary authorities of Tunisia notified about 20 outbreaks of peste des petites ruminants. Sheep and goat pox was recorded in Mongolia (15 outbreaks). Foot-and-mouth disease outbreaks were detected in Zimbabwe (7) and Republic of Mauritius (4).
Highly pathogenic avian influenza was reported in Ghana (9), Cameroon (1), China (1), Nigeria (3), Taiwan (1) and in South Korea (1). Newcastle disease outbreaks continued to occur in Israel (1) and Namibia (3).
Lumpy skin disease was recorded in Albania (148), Bulgaria (119), Greece (8), Serbia (3) and Namibia (2). Bluetongue outbreaks were detected in the following countries: Bosnia and Herzegovina (4), Italy (60), Cyprus (12), Serbia (1), France (83), Croatia (3) and Montenegro (59).
In addition to the above-mentioned diseases, the following diseases were reported in the world:
Eastern equine encephalitis – in the Republic of Panama (13) anthrax – in Italy (2), Kazakhstan (1), France (2), Sweden (1) scrapie – in Iceland (1) low pathogenic avian influenza – in France (1) and South Africa (2).
The following diseases were reported in previously disease-free countries:
-rabies – in Bulgaria (2);
- Rift valley fever – in Niger (1);
- peste des petit ruminants – in Mongolia (2);
- rabbit hemorrhagic disease – in Cote d’Ivoire (5);
- West Nile fever – in Portugal 1);
- fowl typhoid – in Costa-Rica (1). ]
